The Secret to a Fruitful Christian Life

There is a tendency in all of us to measure our Christian life by what we do, how much we serve, how often we attend church, or how busy we are in ministry. But in John 15, Jesus shifts our focus from activity to relationship.

His command is surprisingly simple: Abide in Me.

A branch never struggles to produce fruit. Its only responsibility is to remain connected to the vine. The fruit is the natural outcome of that connection. In the same way, Jesus never asks us to manufacture spiritual fruit through our own strength. He calls us to remain in Him.

Yet many of us live disconnected lives. We look to people for approval, circumstances for happiness, and our own abilities for strength. When these fail, we become weary and dry. Jesus reminds us that He alone is the source of life. 

"Apart from Me, you can do nothing." (John 15:5).

Abiding is more than believing that Jesus is Lord. It is choosing to stay close to Him every day, through His Word, through prayer, and through quiet moments where we listen to His heart. Jesus Himself often withdrew to lonely places to pray because His life flowed from constant fellowship with the Father.

When we abide in Christ, our prayers begin to align with God's heart. Our joy is no longer dependent on circumstances but rooted in His unchanging love. And our lives begin to display the fruit of the Spirit, not because we are trying harder, but because His life is flowing through us.

The Christian life is not about striving; it is about staying connected.

So today, before asking God to do more through you, ask yourself a simpler question:

Am I abiding in Christ?

Because the greatest secret to a fruitful Christian life is not found in working harder; it is found in remaining closer.

The Real Heroes

Why I Believe

I was born in a Hindu Brahmin family. My mother, Jayanthi, was a pious lady and she religiously offered daily prayers to several images of gods and goddesses in our house. I remember as a little child, I and my sister used to sit beside her early in the Tuesday and Friday mornings, watching her chant the mantras and sing the  bhajans (slogans). We did not miss a single festival – these were times of great celebrations. Our balcony, corridor and entrance were filled with lights – light from the diyas (candles). There was so much fun - new dresses, relatives and friends at home! We had all that we wanted in life. Both my parents were working in a bank. My grandparents took good care of us, when our parents were away at work. We were financially able to look after ourselves in the expensive city of Mumbai.
