SEEK YE FIRST

Abundance is God's choice for humanity. Plenty is his provision for mankind. When God created Adam and Eve, they had everything they wanted. And in abundance! Four rivers to provide them with water, innumerable food plants and trees, countless birds and animals, fresh air and priceless treasures... I believe they couldn't even think of anything they needed but wasn't there.

And He is the same God today. Ps 34:10 says, The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

Paul puts this more marvelously in Ephesians 3:20 - 'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think....' Paul literally gives a double emphasis. 'exceedingly abundantly' - Paul, astounded at the enormity of God's provision for mankind, couldn't have penned his thoughts better!

There's however a twist in the tale, when you realize that God wants our heart and eyes to be focused on Him and not on His provisions.

Although it is true that our God owns everything you see around and He is all able to grant all that you need, He doesn't want you to set your heart on these earthly treasures. He wants you to seek something much higher. In fact, Jesus said you are not even to worry about such things as food, clothing or shelter, as your heavenly Father knows you need them.

Mat 6:33 - Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.


If seeking God and his righteousness is the priority in your life, all these things will surely be added unto you.

A God who Satisfies

We have a God who satisfies all our needs And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed. Exodus 16:18 God led the people out of Egypt. In Egypt, Pharaoh asked Joseph to choose the best land for his household and he chose the land of Goshen. Goshen was one of the best lands in Egypt, a fertile land, a land for crops and livestock. In years, a new Pharaoh came to power who did not know about Joseph or what he did to save the people of Israel. The people of Israel came into bondage, but still, they had enough food to eat because their land produced enough for them. When they were led into the wilderness, we see a sharp contrast. They were in bondage earlier, but now they are free. However, they had enough to eat, now they are starving. Does God really exist? This is a foundational spiritual question that all of us would have asked ourselves at some point in time. The Bible provides us with the answer. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  Genesis 1:1 The first verse in the Bible is the foundation of the rest of the Bible and is fundamental to our understanding of who God is.
