SEEK YE FIRST
Abundance is God's choice for humanity.
Plenty is his provision for mankind. When God created Adam and Eve, they had
everything they wanted. And in abundance! Four rivers to provide them with
water, innumerable food plants and trees, countless birds and animals, fresh
air and priceless treasures... I believe they couldn't even think of anything
they needed but wasn't there.
And He is the same God today. Ps 34:10 says,
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not
lack any good thing.
Paul puts this more marvelously in
Ephesians 3:20 - 'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly
abundantly above all that we ask or think....' Paul literally gives a
double emphasis. 'exceedingly abundantly' - Paul, astounded at the enormity of
God's provision for mankind, couldn't have penned his thoughts better!
There's however a twist in the tale, when
you realize that God wants our heart and eyes to be focused on Him and not on
His provisions.
Although it is true that our God owns
everything you see around and He is all able to grant all that you need, He
doesn't want you to set your heart on these earthly treasures. He wants you to
seek something much higher. In fact, Jesus said you are not even to worry about
such things as food, clothing or shelter, as your heavenly Father knows you
need them.
Mat 6:33 - Seek ye first the kingdom of God
and his righteousness and all these
things shall be added unto you.
If seeking God and his righteousness is the
priority in your life, all these things
will surely be added unto you.
